The post of Randomness

I have several random things to share with you today. The first being the cards and gifts my students' made for their parents. We started out by making these cards, they always love using my Cuttlebug!
Then we stamped lunch bags, added a container of Hot Cocoa and topped it off with some candy canes and marshmallows that we dipped it chocolate. I think they turned out pretty cute and I hope the parents appreciate it!

Next up is the Birthday Calendar book I made my mom for Christmas. I just adore this cover which was inspired by the layout of a card Maile Belles did awhile back (if I'm remembering correctly).

Today I was able to go shopping with my best friend! All through high school we would make trips to the fabric store to pick out material for miscellaneous projects...garters and dresses for prom, dresses for a Madrigal Dinner, numerous altered shirts in support of our school's athletic teams, the list could go on and on! Now that she lives on the West Coast and I'm still in Wisconsin, our shopping adventures are few and far between, but today we were able to head back to the fabric store for baby quilt material! Here is what will **hopefully** turn into 2 beautiful baby quilts in the coming weeks...
I pre-washed it all when I got home and am in the process of pressing it so I can start cutting the strips and squares tomorrow. I figure if I don't get a good start on them before I head back to school next week, all I will have in April is a pile of fabric! I have a pretty easy pattern picked out so it should be pretty smooth sailing if I can manage to cut the pieces out without any mistakes!

Wish me luck!

Hope you are recovering from your Christmas celebrations and gearing up for the New Year!

First, I love your cards and gifts for the parents! So thoughtful! I really enjoy stamping with my students too. Your mom's birthday calendar is beautiful and so is the fabric that will be two quilts! I can't wait to see the finished products!! Take care and enjoy!

What terrific gifts for the parents...oh the wonderful things I could have done had I been a full-blown paper crafter when I was teaching! The notebook for your mom is beautiful...and that fabric? Yum!

The parents must have LOVED those cards and treats - so cute! And that birthday calendar is gorgeous. Can't wait to see the quilts!

Oooh! The card and calendar projects are amazing! And a double quilting project next week - wow. You'll do great.

It is exhausting! 5 mos. w/ twins feels and looks a LOT like 7 mos. w/ a single, and there are still 4 mos. to go! Crazy! My DH and I don't know how you're keeping the genders a secret :) Can't wait to hear more!

Wonderful cards and calendar. I know the parents must love that gift! But I must comment on your fabulous fabrics. Beautiful colors! I'm trying to guess what the room color is to be and what the quilt design is. Love following your progress. I guess that's the Grandma in me. Stay safe and healthy in that Wisconsin Winter!!

What a darling project for the "gifts" your students could give...not to mention the gift of creativity you are giving them! Looking forward to seeing those completed quilts! Not only will they be a keepsake but also a special memory for you of a fun shopping trip with a friend...that also is priceless. Enjoy those last days of "vacation".

What a good teacher you are to share your stamping supplies. I can't say that I would do that with my students! I can't wait to see progress on your quilts! Share some pics in all of your free time! :)
