Papertrey Ink Blog Hop: August 2010

The challenge for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop this month is to use a lunch bag in some way. The details and list of participants can be found here on Nichole's blog. With the beginning of the school year approaching quickly, I didn't have a lot of time to make something super creative, but I did come up with this cute little gift gift bag.

I cut the top off and ran the bag through my Cuttlebug to get the scallops on the top, then I stamped the background, added some ribbon and a sentiment.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop: July 2010

The challenge this month was to incorporate office supplies into our projects. I have been wanting to use staples on a card for awhile now, but never remember to so that's what I used on my card. I also used a notecard. It might not be something everyone has in their office, but it is essential in my 'office' (aka my classroom).

Can't believe it's already the 25th again!  The challenge this month was to use tissue paper. I stamped polka dots onto torn strips of tissue paper to create the background for my card.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop: March 2010

This month, Papertrey Ink challenged us to use buttons on our project!  I love buttons!  On my cards I usually just incorporate them as a small accent, but for this challenge I decided to make them more of the focal point.

I was so excited to buy Distressed Stripes this month and I've had my order for almost a week and I hadn't had a chance to ink it up so I new I wanted to use it for this card.  I had so much fun building this plaid!  I can already tell that it's going to be a set that sees lots of ink!  After I stamped the plaid, I used my Fiskars circle cutter to cut out a 2" circle.  I don't use it often because it always slips and never gives me a clean circle, but since I knew I was going to cover it up with buttons that didn't matter.  After I attached the buttons, I felt like it needed just a little something in the top corner.  I think the twine was a nice final touch.

And here is a close up.  I have also been using trying of Becky's photography tips!  It's been fun trying out some of the different settings - rather than just using "automatic" for everything!

Well, after finding PTI over a year ago I started checking out the DT Blogs and the one that really caught my eye was Dawn McVey's. There was always something about her projects that drew me in. Her Raspberry Suite is still the first place I go for inspiration when my creative mojo is low. Thanks Dawn!

For this challenge I came across this cute card. You can find it here on Dawn's blog.

Here is my take on her card. What I really loved about Dawn's card was the layout, so that I kept that the same. I used Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Kraft & Vintage Cream. The Kraft is stamped with Polka Dot Basics II in Dark Chocolate. Then I added a Flourish in White - which is something else I have seen Dawn do and have always wanted to try! I love the big Saddle Stitched bow with the button! After I added the butterflies from Butterfly Kisses (stamped on Bitty Box PP), I started looking for a sentiment. I had just gotten Signature Greetings and when I saw "You Make Me Smile" I thought that was perfect.

My First PTI Blog Hop!

I have always loved looking at everyone's PTI Blog Hop creations, so I thought I would join in the fun now that I have my own blog!  This months challenge was to not only decorate the front of the card, but also to adorn the inside of the card and even the envelope.  I decided to make a card for my cousin who just had her second son.

I chose Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist & Kraft as my color scheme and used the Bitty Baby Blessings stamp set.  The little sail boat is adorable!  I debated what to stamp on the sail and thought about cutting a separate piece of paper to fit the space, but decided to use the little elephant.

My mom loves it when I make cards for her to give away, but she always asks me to stamp something on the inside so she doesn't have to think of so much to write, so this challenge was the push I needed to try adding something to the inside.  I used another sentiment from the Bitty Baby Blessings set and then wrapped Rustic Twine around the card a few times.  It's simple, but I like it!

Here is the envelope to match.  I will have to mail this card so I just added a little embellishment to the bottom corner. I'm not sure what happened to the color in this picture, but I left my camera at school today so I can't take another one, but you get the idea!
